DreamWorks Animation's MADAGASCAR 3(NEW YORK) -- "Madagascar 3" is this weekend's top film with $60.4 million in U.S. and Canadian theaters, Bloomberg News reports.
The DreamWorks Animation hit beat out the science-fiction thriller "Prometheus," which took in $50 million. "Madagascar 3" exceeded the Box Office Mojo estimate of $53.8, but was less than the $63.1 million its predecessor, "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa" brought in in 2008, according to Bloomberg.
The animated film has little to compete with until Disney releases "Brave" on June 22.
