Another shopping center in Summit County is headed to the auction block.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports Tallmadge Plaza Shopping Center at 505 South Ave. will be accepting offers from bidders until October 24.

This follows the auction of Midway Plaza late last month which ended without any buyers.

The Tallmadge Plaza Shopping Center endured a big loss when the center's Acme grocery store moved across the street five years ago.

Neighboring the building is Kmart which will not be included in the auction.

UPDATE No Buyers Yet For Midway Plaza

The Midway Plaza, one of the oldest shopping strips in the Akron-Tallmadge area, was on the auction block today but Tallmadge officials say the plaza didn't sell though there were several interested parties that may be waiting for a future private sale.

Tallmadge Mayor Dave Kline hopes someone will eventually buy the plaza.

"It would rejuvenate the area and bring more commerce to the plaza," he said.

"It would be great to have a nicer looking facade on the building, because the building needs some work done to it."

The auction was held at the Sheraton Suites hotel in Cuyahoga Falls at 1pm Tuesday afternoon.

Mayor Kline says he hopes that a purchase of the plaza will bring economic development to the city.

I think it would be a good thing for the city of Tallmadge."

The reserve price for the building was set at $1.5 million.
