A Cuyahoga Falls woman is sentenced for stealing more than $8,000 while treasurer of a youth baseball organization.
The Falls News Press reports 41-year old Julie Wingate was placed under two years of community control, 150 hours of community service, and ordered to make restitution of more than $8,650. The $8,651.15 has already been paid according to a spokesperson for the Summit County Prosecutor’s office.
An eight month prison sentence was suspended.
Wingate was found guilty of grand theft by a jury in Summit County Common Pleas Court on March 12th.
Julie Wingate was indicted last year on one count of grand theft after being accused of spending approximately $8,600 using checks drawn from a checking account belonging to the Cuyahoga Falls South Little League, according to Cuyahoga Falls Police.
Falls police detectives gathered evidence that Wingate mixed personal purchases with legitimate ones she made for the Little League.
