An 18-year old  Akron man  was sentenced to 13 years in prison for the shooting death of another man.

Charles Williams of Beechwood Drive was sentenced for the death of 19-year old Yusef El-Daniels on August 17th.

In January, Williams pleaded guilty to Involuntary manslaughter with a firearm specification, and having weapons while under disability.

Late in the evening of August 17, 18-year-old Chevron Mapp and El-Daniels, both of Akron, went to Beechwood Drive in search of El-Daniels missing gun. They confronted Williams outside a neighbor’s house after hearing a rumor that Williams had El-Daniels’ gun. Williams refused to give the men the gun in his possession. The argument between the three men escalated into a fight. Williams was hit and began shooting at Mapp and El-Daniels; Mapp also started shooting. Mapp was shot but survived. Williams shot El-Daniels in the back, killing him as he attempted to flee the gunfire.

Mapp pleaded guilty in January to having weapons under disability and unrelated charges of Aggravated Robbery and Assault. He will serve 10 years in prison.
