Mayor Plusquellic ranking near the bottom when it comes to social media after a "response test" conducted by WKYC Channel 3. They asked public officials and agencies questions through social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, then tracked how long it took to get an answer.
Of those answering, Akron's Mayor came in last at nine days, five hours and 21 minutes.
UPDATED 4:47 p.m.: Stephanie Post York, speaking for the Mayor's office, noted Channel 3 posted a question on Plusquellic's campaign website and not the social media sites used by the City. Plusquellic was re-elected last year and the campaign website has, for the most part, been dormant since then. York told AkronNewsNow.com. She said responses to questions and comments on City-maintained media is more timely since those sites are checked more frequently.
Cleveland's police department was tops at 14 minutes; ODOT Akron ranked fourth at just under two hours. Others making the top ten rankings included Secretary of State Jon Husted (two hours, 24 minutes); Senator Rob Portman (two hours, 55 minutes); and the Ohio Department of Motor Vehicles (one day, four hours and 35 minutes).
At least Plusquellic and the others responded, either personally or through staff assigned to social media outreach.
Among those not responding, a pretty lengthy list including Governor Kasich, Senator Sherrod Brown and his election opponent State Treasurer Josh Mandel and Cleveland's congressional delegation of Marcy Kaptur, Marcia Fudge and Dennis Kucinich. Mandel's press spokesperson told WKYC he's accessible as shown by knocking on doors during campaigns and giving his cell phone number out.
