Health Organizations Offer Flu Vaccine 9/21/2009 4:27:51 PM | Lindsay McCoy, AkronNewsNow.com The Akron community is gearing up against a potential outbreak of the H1N1 swine flu by taking preventative measures. Local health organizations will offer the seasonal flu vaccine to area residents. advertisement Akron General Health & Wellness Centers, the Amercian Red Cross: Summit County Chapter, the Akron Health Department and the Medina Health Department, among others, will be offering the seasonal flu vaccines for prices ranging from $25 to $15 a shot.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Controland Prevention, more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu complications each year and approximately 36,000 deaths occur. Health officials say the best protection against the flu is to get vaccinated each year.
