Kenny Chesney Puts The Brakes On!
Kenny Chesney says it's time to turn the ignition off, iTunes is getting you set for the release of Toby Keith's new album, Julianne Hough helps celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz and Trace Adkins is cast in another movie. Get the scoop on these stories inside The Nashville Minute (audio and text versions available).Takin' A Break -- Kenny Chesney has decided to take a break from touring. He tells Entertainment Weekly that he's not quitting, just taking a breather from the road next year -- "There's been a lot of sacrifices and there's been a lot of stuff. I see myself taking a step back and shake my head and all the cobwebs and try to make sense of everything that's happened to me." Kenny tells the magazine that a conversation with Bruce Springsteen got him thinking about taking it easy for awhile. He says,"He told me something that hit me really hard, and it's stuck with me ever since... Kenny, you can write half a song on a piece of paper, and you can put that piece of paper away in a drawer for five years, and you can go back to it, and that song will still be there. But life isn't like that. And whatever you're doing, don't miss your life, too." So what are Kenny's plans for next year? He'll take his band and crew to the Caribbean for a vacation. After that, he'll work on a new album, travel to places he's never been, and maybe even do a one-off show here and there. Have fun Kenny and stay in touch!
Get It Now! -- iTunes is counting down the weeks until Toby Keith's new album, American Ride, is released. iTunes is now releasing a new track from the album each week until the street date, October 6th. When the album is officially released, just click on the Complete My Album option to buy the rest of the album at a discounted price.
Land of Oz -- Julianne Hough and actress-singer Jennifer Hudson will perform a concert of songs from The Wizard of Oz in New York City's Central Park on September 29th. Immediately after the performance, the movie will be shown on a giant inflatable screen. The concert is a part of the 70th anniversary celebration of the film. Fans of the movie can watch a newly restored version of it for free on Netflix.com for free on October 3rd.
And finally,
Movie Time! -- Trace Adkins has been cast in the independent film called Lifted. Trace will play country singer and guest judge "Jimmy Knox" on the show Teen Starquest. The plot follows a talented young singer whose happy life is disrupted with his father's second deployment to Afghanistan. Filming is underway in Birmingham, AL as part of a program to develop the statewide entertainment industry. The movie is expected to be released in Sept. 2010.
And that is the Nashville Minute.
