Ohio: The New Salem
I have made no secret about my dissension toward the death penalty. My reasons have been expressed here on many occasions and to avoid being redundant I'll link the core essay from last year here.

A Different Shade of Evil
It will be a long time before people stop talking about Anthony Sowell and the parade of death unearthed in his Imperial Avenue home. Women - so far all women - met a horrible end at the hands of someone. All indications are that this convicted sex-offender will find his way to the very wrong side of fame.

Losing a Customer
We got a call early Saturday morning. It was from a large retailer, a huge retailer. They wanted to talk about renewing product protection plans on several items. Instead they blew it. Remarkably, simply, they lost me.

The Freeing App
I was so excited the day I got my new phone. It did everything. It wasn't long before I had six full pages of colorful little icons, all representing some cool application, or apps. Some days it seemed that the last thing I needed the device for was talking to somebody.

Welcome to 1954
In the early part of my life, institutional racism was the sticky, sludgy bottom in the stream of our family's progress.

On Talk Radio: Why We Listen
There are many experts on the art form of radio, but like all artistic endeavors the true effectiveness is purely subjective. That is, no knows everything and no one in the business is totally wrong.

An Eye on the Prize
Let me say at the start that I am as surprised as anyone by today's headlines. President Obama wins the Nobel Peace Prize. It is probably the most famous of the awards. It is also, so it seems, the most subjective.

When Families Attack
The house guest has an awful habit. He downs a can of beer, separates the tab and plops it inside the can, turning it into a crude dinner bell. He holds the can up and jingles the make-shift maraca. It is low-class language for, "need another beer here, hun."

The Good Pain
This was the first year that I attempted to join the Roadrunner Akron Marathon. It was in part because I love one special characteristic of the Rubber City Radio Group and in part to prove something to myself.

Unsubscribe
I have come to the conclusion that the world would be a better place if there was an "opt out" button on everything. Spam, junk mail, filling stations, grocery stores, Walmart, co workers, friends and even family; how nice it would be to check a little box and be done with them.
